Hello all! I haven’t posted much about GeoGraffiti— mainly because it’s been really really busy. Still working on that iPhone app… hehe, I didn’t think it would take this long to do.

Well, this is what’s been going on— there’s a feature on the app that’s just simply awesome… it’s so fun to watch… addicting! hehe, I just watch it go… twirly and twirly. This feature is the part that has been giving us the most problems… apparently there’s a lot of math involved. We might have an official blog post in a few hours or until tomorrow- it will be a sneak peek of the new app.

Also, in order to get on track I’ve been introduced to a nifty way of organizing hours of work. We plotted all of our tasks to do and how long each would take— turns out that on Monday we had 184hrs of work left. That’s a lot! This way is easier because everything is on track – I don’t waste time thinking of what I have to do next – everything is plotted. I know exactly what to do next. It looks like most of the screens are done… I think the only HUGE part left is the whole work flow for the profile screen… other than that– it’s just a bunch of buttons, exporting graphics, designing more graphics, and stuff like that.

I’m really excited! We’ve been exporting what we have to the actual iPhone to see what it looks like and it looks so cool. It doesn’t look like the other applications… yay! hopefully it’s enough to be put in some sort of “coolest apps for iPhone” blog, haha.. *fingers crossed*

Alright, back to work.

This app is due Friday – so… hehe, no sleep tonight-

It’s been a couple of long days. whew! Finishing up that iPhone application – seems like we did scrap the robot looking recorder. Oh well. We’re trying to do something really really cool – something that’s voice activated but I don’t want to spoil the greatness of the recording screen until it’s done.

Turns out that Apple is really picky about the way you design applications… So… after reading the manual… tsshh… ok, ok, I didn’t read the whole thing just the stuff that pertains to me… I had to redesign all the elements. Went from using a tab bar to a toolbar… hehe… lil icons are soooo tiny it’s hard to design them. I was struggling.. because there’s a button on the application that Searches a Voice Mark… but, but, I had designed the icon as the standard search icon you see everywhere on computers… so, it turned out that I couldn’t use that icon… boo, so, I didn’t know how to do it… considering I’m working with a 20x20px… you can’t do much.. those tiny icons were tough to do.. talk about being minimal.

What else, what else… OOOOH, finally got the quote for the business cards, WOAH! super expensive! so we’re scrapping the original idea and going with something cheaper, hehe.

Ehm, what else, what else… uhm, I think that’s about it… well, I dunno, so much happens in one day– I forget what happens in the morning.

Wow, just been working like crazy on the iPhone application. I swear I spent 5hrs rendering a recording device… but we’re gonna scrap it, :-( I don’t want to let go! it looks cool (I think)! Anyhoot, so – I’m still working on the app – hopefully I’ll be done today. I just need to make all the screens for the “profile” section – I’m done with the map and voicemark area… the recording screens are done I just have to change the graphic so that it doesn’t look like a robot OR just make buttons… which would be a lot easier! haha, but— I dunno, I want it to look cool.

I had my first lesson in CSS yesterday. Aaah, takes me back to the good ol’ programming days… remember those? Me screaming at the computer because the stupid little program wouldn’t compile… haha. Anyways, CSS doesn’t seem so difficult.. same concepts as any language but it’s learning the code… and learning what’s out there. There’s some cool stuff out there!!!!! Which brings me to another point… but that will be for a later post on today.

I met the Callfire people too! They were great!

I love the attitude from everyone surrounding this lil world – they’re all so radically progressive. It’s not even what’s new anymore – it’s beyond that… what can you do? They’re creators and I think it’s absolutely fantastic!

Anyways, back to work because I have A LOT to do.

In the middle of the day my computer decides to shut off… booooo!!!!!!! lost a lot of work but it’s ok— I think I’m only done with three pages for the app… need… well, a lot more. Also, saw the Keynote Conference… yay!!! that was very exciting. I want the new computer! Someone buy it for me, :-) Anyhoot, I just have iPhone stuff in my head… figuring out how to integrate the tabs from the website to the application.. I don’t think it’s possible. Have to figure out a new way to navigate then. This week is going to be tough!

Pretty uhhh.. laid back day. Finished business cards… waiting on a quote – yay! Learned how to “check in” my work – very nifty, very nifty – since I’m always losing my work– this Subversion thing saves legacies of my files. Very cool. I can always go back in history. Just working on iPhone stuff now.

So this is my first post as a GeoGraffiti intern. So far I have learned that I am stupid. Haha. I don’t know how to do anything on the web. Turns out that I had hosting on my website this whole time to host my blog as opposed to blogspot (the way I had been doing), duh! Now back to designing stuff, yay! I think the way this works is I’ll be posting updates at the end of the day— except for today because I just wanted to post something, hehe.
